Project Life 2014 Week 12

Busy week!

For this one the majority of the background papers were pieces I had precut from a stack that I believe was called Mariposa.  It was likely DCWV since I'm pretty sure I got at JoAnn when their stacks were 40% off. 

I cut the 'week 12' title with my silhouette.  Still love it.  I need to watch some tutorials and get better with it though.  Up in the top right is a letter we got about my youngest daughter's kinder entrance into the program my oldest two are in.  They decided not to give siblings priority this year like they always have and I panicked because there wasn't enough room.  That meant kids would be chosen by lottery. 

In the middle is my youngest waiting by the door for brother and sister to get home from school with dad. It's so cute how she's excited to see them every day.  Also in the midddle row are pics of my youngest on a walk.  She took her scooter.  She kept trying to do tricks and stopping to stretch.  It was funny, and so her.  I had to capture it.  On the bottom left is the pic from preschool Daddy and Me day.  It was a western theme. Then in the bottom right quadrant I divided up a pic from my daughter's open house.  She was standing under her rainbow that had some sort of sentences written on the colored strips.

On the right we have pics from this week's baseball game, pics from my son's musical (performed at Open House), and a picture of the scrubs that came in the mail.  Hubby is now officially ready for nursing school to start. I tucked the attached tags into the pocket.  The week in review is in the upper left this week.

So now I'm getting work done on my 30 Days of Thankfulness mini album.  I've enjoyed the process of taking time out to give space and words to my gratitude. 

I'm also starting to think about December Daily.  I try not to do too much too early, but I also like to do some work ahead so that I will stress less and be able to finish it easily in December.

Project Life 2014 Weeks 7&8

I know what you're thinking...we're getting ready to start a new year and you're only 7 weeks into Project Life?!

No.  I'm 7 weeks into sharing Project Life. :)  But in reality, I'm not much farther than that.  I think I'm on week 15 in my book. 

I'm not worried.  You know why?  Because my organization system is actually working!  My notes are good enough, my realia sorted, and my photos are sorted well enough after I upload them, that it's easy to catch up.  It's now worked well for me for 2 years.  I spent 3 hours one day in my office this week and got weeks 7-14 done, and that wasn't the only thing I was working on!  I think that's a pretty good return.  Now I just need to ignore my house for a few days and do it again. :)

So here's weeks 7 and 8, which I put together in a two page spread:

 

There were several things going on this week that didn't have pictures, so I used 'ephemera of the future' like doctors print outs, and the handy 'week in review' to note these things.

For the title card I used a My Mind's Eye sheet cut up and the Silhouette my husband gave me last Christmas for the title itself.  Love that thing!  I cut off the title strip on the patterned paper, it's called The Sweetest Thing.  I thought that'd make a great little side note and put it in the pocket to the right of the title block.

I also included an Instaweather pic of my kids having snocones in February, because it was in the 80's.  Seriously.  I liked their pictures this time so I included a few of them.  What can I say, they were making cute faces and poses.

I also included a selfie of my daughter and I checking out the new Hobby Lobby.  Love that place.  I've had to drive forever to get to one, but this week a new one opened in a town only about 25 minutes from my house. 

I used an old ledger sheet for the week in review and included a few of my Facebook posts this week.  I think I like doing that and might include more of those in the future.

On the right side of the spread:

On this side we have a few shots of my middle kid getting student of the month at her school. :)  She was excited!  I also tucked the letter her teacher sent me, notifying me of the assembly time, into one of the pockets.  On the top right we have my husband's acceptance letter to the nursing school of his choice for his RN and then NP program.  I know it was a big relief for him to get in. 

I also included the doctor's page from my youngest daughter's kindergarten appointment.  She is now ready to enroll for fall!

On the bottom is a shot from a friend's birthday party.  She's into sheep.  There were real sheep at the party.  Too stinkin' cute.

And on the bottom right is this:

This would be how my 8 year old chose to do his reading homework.  The whole 20 minutes. 

So I'll be sharing more pages (at least up till week 15 ;)) in the coming days, as well as updates on my 30 days  of Thankfulness album every few days too.

Project Life 2014 Weeks 2 and 3

I put weeks 2 and 3 together because they were kind of low activity weeks.  We were recovering from the holidays and gearing up for spring baseball.

I used a lot of orange and green on this spread.  I usually shy away from orange, but since I had it in the pictures I decided to whip out this floral springy mat stack I have.

Here's a better look at the left side:

The top left pocket has a collage of my husband's birthday.  I highlighted a sign the kids made, his favorite dinner, and the pumpkin donut holes he asked for instead of birthday cake.  I believe the "b is for birthday" is from Jilibean soup.  There's washi tape along the top and another pic underneath.

The title card words were cut from my silhouette, the white piece punched with a Stampin' Up! punch, washi tape again, and the yellow scrap of ribbon from my stash.  It's a Stampin' Up! seam binding ribbon.

In the middle row left is an "instaweather" of grilling in our still-not-winter weather.  Our iPhones died and we had to get new ones.  I made the third middle pocket from scraps and a really old sticker embellishment sheet.  I had to break out some old stuff to get enough orange.   That's a good thing though.  Use it up! 

The last pic in the middle is my son walking away from the Spartan race.  Loved the shirt they were given so I got a pic.

The bottom row has a postcard we got from my youngest daughter's sunday school class.  She was SO excited!  The bottom right pocket has my week in review.

The right page:

This page was mostly the Spartan race my kids ran.  It was an all day event, and we were tired and dirty, but it was so much fun!  The "us" sticker" is from that same set as the orange "live life to the fullest" on the other page.  Use that stash!  I layered on a plain white punched piece of paper so it would pop away from the green background.

The exception on this page is the top right pocket.  It's the birthday gift I made for my mom, straight from Pinterest.  She loved them.  Really loved them.

I'm finally back into my craft room so there should be posts coming!

This is the title page of my Project Life album for 2014:

I'm trying to remember what company made the blue floral paper on this spread but I can't.  I do remember that I bought it at Two Peas in a Bucket though. 

I used a picture from our Christmas shoot to start off the year.  I mean, we look the same, so why hassle with another photo shoot? :)  I just layered the pic on torn white cardstock and that over some of the blue damask paper.

The brown swirly paper on the top right is from Simple Stories.  I think it's a divider that I cut down.  It was pretty and I left it as is, for now.  I reserve the right to chage my mind later. :)

In the middle row is a quote from Pinterest adorned with a wood button from JoAnn. You can find the quote on my Project Life board.  The story card was from a cut apart sheet, again from Two Peas.  The verse in the middle is from Pinterest.  The 2014 pocket has burplap paper I got from Michael's, a scrap of the blue damask (the bottom scrap which also happened to have a piece of the polka dots from the other side), the 2014 I cut out with my silhouette and early espresso cardstock from Stampin' Up!.  

On the bottom left I used a piece from an old set of Stampin' Up! specialty papers.  I love those!  I layered a scrap of doily, a scrap of the burlap paper, and scraps of ribbon and crochet trim (both fibers from Stampin' Up!) right over the side. 

On the bottom right I used more of the blue damask paper and burlap paper.  I used more of a cut apart sheet to write down our "stats" at the beginning of  the year.

I'm already done up to week 5 so there will more pages coming soon, along with a few other things I'm in the middle of!

Project Life 2013 and 2014

The end of one year and the beginning of another.  And I'm finally getting around to posting about them. :)

I'm a little bit behind on small touches because my craft room is inaccessable for while (construction going on around it).  I'm limited to a tool box of stuff I got out before hand to get me through.  I'm making notes as I do stuff about what I want to do for finishing touches when I get back in there so it will go quickly and I don't feel so far behind that way.

But I did get the final touches put on last year's last page.

I combined two photos in one pocket in the top left of my son shooting off a rocket he got with his Christmas money from Grandma and Grandpa.  He loves science and this is a baking soda/vinegar thing. 

The top right is the date we went on and got his loot from said Christmas money spending.

The family pic is one I had us take on our Christmas card photo shoot day.  I saw the idea in another album a while ago and had planned ahead.  I cut out "the end" with my silhouette.

In the middle row I have just our end of year stats, and a pull up list of news type events from the year.

The bottom right two sections are what we did for New Year's Eve and the menu.

For 2014

I had a hard time finding an album I wanted.  I really liked the one I had last year bu, it was from Stampin' Up! and they don't carry them anymore.  I finally decided to get this one at Michael's and deal with the whole front window thing I don't like.

See that stain in the bottom right hand corner?  My youngest spilled orange juice on it.  I'm going to just stop being mad about that now and just decide it's part of this year's memories. :)  Embracing life...though it takes me a few days to switch to that mind set.

I just put a scrap in the window that I like and use my Silhouette to cut the 2014 for it.

I have the title page almost done (just waiting for access to my craft room again), ane weeks 1-2 are in the same state.

December Daily Days 22-24 and 16

I had to go back to where I skipped day 16.  It was the back of a page protector with a ton of small squares and I only had one picture.  I decided to just break it all up and use simple scraps for the rest.

I had spent the week making my kids cute holiday lunches and wanted to get that in the album.

On to day 22:

I didn't put a lot in this year's album with different decorations; but, I wanted to get this one in there.  It's just a simple fake garland I lay across our long entertainment center and sit bells in.  It's the item that made me really feel like I was decorating for Christmas this year.

Day 23:

I waited way too long to wrap presents this year. It's not the first year I've had that problem.  I wait to wrap them so I can make the new tree skirt I've been wanting to make.  I don't get the tree skirt done to go under the presents and I just end up wrapping them at the last minute and sticking them under the tree without a tree skirt.

Here are both pages together:

I made the two titles with my new Silhouette. :)  The numbers came from a sheet of paper I ordered at Two Peas.  The 23 pocket has sequins from Michael's and the writing you see behind it is from the journaling on the vellum on day 24.

Day 24:

Again here I have dug into my scrap stash and made the title with my Silhouette.  The 24 comes from a different sheet of paper than the previous two days but it's still one of those 12x12 papers that have numbers all over them.

By the way, the pictures are of my kids sprinkling the magic reindeer food on the lawn that Rae brough back from kindergarten the last day before break.

The only reason I haven't done 25 yet is because I was trying to figure out how to do it.  I normally just do one page or one two page layout and I just couldn't fit it here.  I've just now decided to let that go and do how ever many are needed to commemorate they day. I mean, seriously, which is more important...the memory, or the anal retentiveness?!

I'll be working on that and my final touches and have that up soon to post.

Project Life 2013 Week 51

I had most of this week in the pockets before Christmas, and then I got a silhouette for Christmas! So if you're wondering how I got that little framed "week 51", I made it with my Christmas present. :)

This week I kept it simple since life was so busy.  There were lots of kid events to attend to. 

Here's a better look at the left side:

I put my kids' Christmas program pictures in here, Rae's class also made gingerbread houses so I put a pic of that in.  The wreath tag is from my son's class. They made cookies as part of an equivalent fractions lesson plan and they gave us a batch.  This was the tag tied on top.  And since I made an extra effort to put a cute and Christmassy lunch in their lunchboxes this week, I took a picture of that too. :)

The title card is all Stampin' Up!.  The blue cardstock background is Not Quite Navy and the floral strip is from my stash for Project Life this year.  The thin frame with the words "week 51" I made in Very Vanilla on my new Silhouette!

The right side:

The top left of this page has an internet news announcement.  One of my husband's best friends mom died suddenly in a car accident this week.  It was a bit of a shock.  She had been his principal and he spent time at their house.  There will be notes in future PL pages about my hubby flying out of town for the funeral.

I put in a copy of our Christmas card and I didn't want to cut it up so I put it over the page protector.  Note to self...if I do that again I need to not adhere it until I've inserted next week's stuff in the back side of the pockets. :)

Another pic of my middle kid at her program, a note about car issues, the Week in Review card, and a tag from Olivia's monkey pencil birthday gifts we made for her preschool class finish off the page.

I have week 52 almost ready and will likely share that tomorrow.  I've also almost finished December Daily so that will come in here soon as well.  Are y'all ready for a new year of Project Life?!
