Fall and Halloween Project Buffet and Opportunity Night

Let's start with a quick Opportunity Night reminder. This Saturday, September 3, 7-8:30 pm. Come learn about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. We'll chat, watch a quick video, stamp, have fun. You'll leave more knowledgeable and better able to make a decision.

This is a great night to come to, even if you're not yet seriously thinking about the opportunity, just curious, or really thinking about it for a full or part time job or for the demonstrator supply discount. Normally I have a fall stamp camp, where you come and make some pre-selected products. This year, I'm changing things up quite a bit. You'll get more selection of projects and more flexibility in what you're making and how much it will cost you.

You're going to want to download the order form at the bottom of the post and pick and choose your projects on that.  I'm posting just some of what we'll be making here, but all of it's on the order form, with pictures. 

 
 

Here's how it works this year.  You look at the pictures on the order form.  Decide what you want to make and how many of each thing you want to make. Fill out the form indicating to me which projects you're making and how many of each.  Then get the order form to me via e-mail or snail mail.  ([email protected]).  Pay either by check, cash, or Paypal.  Paypal just goes to the previous address.  If you need me to send you an invoice I can do that, but you can also just go into your Paypal account and click on the "send money" tab.

 

RSVP with payment by September 8th for me to order your product in time to get and prep it for you.

The Project Buffet is on September 16th, 6-9 pm.  I'll have snack and drinks.  Bring scissors and adhesive.

Some of My Favorite Christmas Ideas From Convention

I don't normally post Christmas so early, but I've had a lot of inquiries. Soon I'll be posting some stuff (intersprinkled with fall ideas) that you can make, buy, or come to a class for. For now, I thought I'd start with some of my favoirte ideas from convention.

 

This is a game that Sarah Douglas made using our Letters To Santa Designer Series Paper.  It has pages that look like Bingo cards as part of the set, so she turned it into a Christmas Bingo game that folds up nicely, with a small cello bag tucked inside with the cute Bingo markers.  Adorable!  And each pack of DSP makes at least 8 games!...up to ten if ou want to not cut a few pages up for accent strips.
 

I was thinking this would make a great travel game for holiday travel, and a great small gift for all the nieces and nephews and grandkids, etc...They're easy enough to make that I'm going to have my 6 year old make some for his friends.

And don't forget that the DSP is on sale for a few more days!

 

I can't forget to show you the advent calendar.  This one is made with the Big Shot Matchbox Die.  They're just stacked together and wrapped with cardstock and DSP.  This is last year's DSP but it'd be great with this year's paper.  Love this idea!  What a great and inexpensive way to make a unique advent calendar!

And I LOVE this simple box.  The kraft box is from our new Holiday Mini that will be out September 1.  Let me know if you need one sent to you.  The box is stamped and embossed with the Hello Doily stamp and has a bit of glimmer on it too.  So simple yet elegant and fabulous!

 

 And lastly I'll add in two card ideas for now (more of those - not from convention- to come soon).

The angel is simple a folded circle and scallop circle.  So clever!  I love those people that can create with punches.  Simple sponging makes that sky and the set itself is hard to not make something beautiful with!

 

I love the elegant style of the tree card too.

Shabby Chic Baby Shower Invitation

My friend, Christy, is having her fourth baby...and very first girl! We're so excited to be planning a pink shower! 

She married a guy a from England and they both love tea.  She also likes to decorate kind of shabby chic style so we decided to go with a soft theme of "cupcakes and tea for the mommy to be." 

Here are the shower invites I made:

 
I used the new Beau Chateau paper.  LOVE that stuff!

I also used the butterfly embosslit in my Big Shot.  I love that it cuts and embosses at the same time!  And when you do that with designer paper, it gives a lot of depth to the look.

 
 And I love cards that have a little something different going on, like this one with the info card kind of tucked into the card pocket.

 Her baby's room is decorated with butterflies, hence the butterfly add ons.  I can't wait to get with the other girls and do the rest of our decorations and such.  We're putting butterflies everywhere!  And with the Big Shot, it's so easy and fast to cut out a ton of butterflies and stick them all over with glue dots.

Opportunity Night Is Coming!

 
For Who?  You!  Anyone who is interested in knowing more about what being a Stampin' up! demonstrator is like.

What exactly is an opportunity night?  It's your chance to come learn about the wide range of opportunities that are available to Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  We'll cover the basics for everyone from those who want to know if it's worth it to sign up just for the discount, to those who want to replace a full time job, and every level in between.  And of course we'll snack and stamp too!

Designer Series Paper Gift Bags

Ok, these are quick and dirty (so to speak).  They'd look a lot cuter with a matching tag hanging on the straps or a stamped image on the front, yada yada yada.

But really, I had limited time (the kids were not doing well at the office today :)) and I really wanted to show you one of my favorite things to do with designer paper...make my own gift bags!  And they can totally match the gift!

Forgive the poor staging, my two year old was crying for the millionth time so I wasn't thinking about how ugly that flag holder is as a hanger. 

These are both made from the same pack of paper, the Frightful Sight paper.  Picture the scallop circle punched tag I was going to hang on it with a spider stamp on it.  It was so cute in my head. 

This one, you may notice, is slightly narrower than the last.  I cut a strip off and made it into a handle.  Have I ever mentioned before that I love that our designer series papers are double sided?!  Because I could never put two patterns like these together myself!

If you really want a step by step tutorial with pictures, you'll have to make sure you're on my newsletter list, because it'll be in September's issue (look in the left side bar). 

 I know, this post is riddled with grammatical errors.  I'm still typing and posting anyway.

You pretty much just score the sides and bottom, that's it. These each take like a minute and a half (that is, without the cute tag and all).  It's a score, snip, and tape thing.

And get this, each pack of DSP comes with 12 sheets: 2 each of 6 different double sided designs, for $10.95.  That means you can make cute bags (way cuter than from wrapping paper section of your big box store) for less than a buck a piece!  And that's if you use a full sheet for each bag.  You could cut them and make little mini bags and get even more!

Pretty Canning Jars - Getting Down to Business With Summer Produce

I will confess that this is my first year making dill pickles solo. I've made them with my mom, but have not been brave enough to try them alone. I'm afraid I'll give my family food poisoning. :) But I can say I made these at the beginning of summer, and we've now eaten them and survived!!!

 And of course I had to stamp cute little canning jar labels for them!  The 'Just Believe' set has the perfect little box with leaves on it for this!

Add some vanilla seam binding and button on the front and some of these can be given away as cute little homemade gifts (that's if my pickle loving son doesn't eat them all first).

 
You could, of course do these with anything, not just pickles!

Budget Conscious Birthday Card Buffet

Everyone needs birthday cards!  Not everyone wants to pay $5 a card at Hallmark for one that half of America is getting!

Introducing a new event, the card buffet!

What would you say to coming over and making some pre-designed, pre-cut, prepped and ready to stamp cards for all types of recipients? 

Here's how it works:

-You RSVP to come by August 18th (e-mail or in person is fine), so I know can estimate the amount of cards to prep.

-You do not have to decide how many you're going to make when you RSVP!  There's a $2 minimum (meaning at least 2 cards), but you can come, take your time and enjoy yourself, and make whatever you're in the mood for that night.  You pay when you're done stamping.  Count your cards, that's how many dollars you owe me. 

-There will be boxes with all the supplies for a card in it.  You walk to the table of boxes, pick out the card you want to make, take that box to your assigned area, then make as many as you want of that design. When you are done, put the box back for someone else, take another box of a different design, repeat as desired. 

-I take cash or checks (post dated up to two weeks is fine) that night.  (Sorry, I only take credit cards for catalog product).

-Show up, have fun, leave with a stash of cards ready to give away as needed!  No more frantic running to a store for a card at the last minute! 

-If you see a card on the flyer that you really really want to make a lot of, and you want to make sure there's a certain amount of supplies to ensure you can make them and not hinder everyone else's ability to make it as well, you can reserve a personal supply by letting me know which card it is and pre paying me for those cards.  I'll have those supplies ready and set aside for you separate from the general supplies.  It's still just $1 per card to reserve your personal supply.
