Pregnancy Congrats - Warning, Retired Merchandise Used!

This is one of those sets I kept when it retired, and I'm glad I did!  I fell in love with it when I saw it and I still use it pretty frequently.  I really love the phrases "you grow girl" and "happy waiting."

I had two friends announce last month that they were pregnant and I wanted to congratulate them.  So I whipped out this set and some scraps of Lap of Luxury DSP, and my sketchbook. 

FYI- My sketch book is a book I use to sketch out layouts of cards I see and like.  THEY ARE NOT USUALLY FROM MY OWN CARDS.  Sometimes I see a card (in a magazine, online, etc...), and what I really like about it, is the way it's laid out.  So I'll draw it out in my sketchbook to refer back to when I need an idea and am totally blank.  Like I was the day I sat down to make these. :)  I use a 5" x 5" On Board Stampin' Up! journal that I decorated a long time ago with scraps of paper and embellishments.

  

For this card I really liked the Life Is Beautiful piece of designer paper.  I thought it apprapos for a baby.:)

For both of the cards I used the same DSP and color scheme.  That made it easier.  And really, the reason I made two different ones, was because I couldn't decided between the two. :)

For both of them I also used paper piecing.  That's when you stamp the image a second time on another paper and cut out a part of it to put over the original image.  In this case I stamped onto the designer series paper and cut out the dress to put on the girl.

In the second card I really like the tab on top, and used a strip of basic pearls to cover the staple I put it one with. :)

Remember that, even though the stamp set is retired, you can get the papers I used at my online shop.

I'm Registered for Convention!

I am soooooo excited today because I registered for Stampin' Up!'s convention today!  It was up in the air literally until this morning and I am super grateful that I get to go again!  Even better, I get to go with my good friend and downline, Vanessa!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE convention!  There's great entertainment, tooooo many awesome stamping ideas to make in a life time, great fun, and fabulous people!  Even the food is great!  Of course, my excitement today has me thinking back to how great convention was last year.

This is me at the atrium at the home office.   
 I love how Stampin' Up! tries to be eco-conscious.  They combine a lot of natural sunlight and real and fake plants at the home office to make things better for the environment.  There's a lot of other stuff they do too, but that's another post.

 

 

 

This is the outside of the home office.  I was super excited to go last year because it was my first time going.  I LOVE brick!  I live in Southern California now, and everything is stucco.  I grew up around brick and wood and really miss it.  The whole facility is really beautiful, without being wasteful or too much.

 

 

 

 



One of my favorite things at the home office is what I think is called the Legacy Room.  It's this section that's decorated like a house with all these great ideas!  Really, too many!  And I hear they change it every year!  This was a lamp in an adorable bedroom there.  Can you see that it is punched and die cut flowers?! I can't wait to see what they have this year!

 

 

 

My favorite thing in the Legacy Room was this tree.  You might think it's silly, but it reminded me of some pussy willows that grew nearby one of my growing up places.  It's made with our Newsprint DSP and punches.  They folded up all those little flowers and put them on a branch like buds!  Simple, elegant, love it.

Selling Retired Stamp Sets

I'm slowly listing some retired stamp sets for sale in my Etsy shop. I plan to have a large supply sale in mid May and/or early July, but for now I need to get some stuff out of my way and earn my way to convention too!
