December Daily Album Day 3

I spent some time baking peanut butter bacon cookies with the kids this afternoon so I took pictures of that.  I took them to a party later that night.  I know they sound wierd, but they're delicious.  And if you simply must try them, I got the recipe here.

FYI - My middle daughter rarely has all her clothes on.  I fear she might be stripper in the making. ;)

Anyway, this is the outside of the envelope I pretty much covered with papers from the Simply Scrappin' kit.

I put a picture of my son helping on the inside flap:

 
And here's a shot of the cookies, which I put on the piece of cardstock inside the envelope.

I didn't end up adding any embellishments to this one and I'm still not sure about whether or not I will end up doing so.  Right now at least, I'm happy as it is so I'll leave it unless a bright idea just makes me change my mind.

December Daily Album First 2 Days

I'm soooo glad I committed to doing this project this year!  Sometime soon I might write a post on all the reasons I love this project!  I know from my posts it seems like I'm behind, but I'm really not.  I am still taking pics everyday, and remember the album base is all done.  I'm just not posting final pages until I get the pictures printed, put in, and any extra embellishments I decide to add on done for those pages.

So here's what it looks like from the outside now that I have page one done.

 

I had done the front cover with a leftover piece of window sheet so you can see through it. The pic inside is our very fall looking tree on a sunny day. 

 
 I decided (partly since we weren't really doing anything Christmassy yet) to document the fact that we're having a seriously warm December!  I even took a snapshot of my computer screen when checking the weather site just to help creatively document the detail!  Now that I'm reflecting on this, I think I'll try to include something about the weather in future years too.  It would be fun to compare every year as we look through the albums.

The number 1 in the circle and the tag I journaled on are both part of the Simply Scrappin' kit I used for the majority of this project.

 Here's page 2:

 My oldest is in kindergarten and he brought home one of those countdown chains from school.  The kids are taking turns tearing off a chain link each night.  When I saw the "countdown" tag in the Simply Scrappin' kit I knew it had to go on this page.  It was perfect!  The #2 and snowflake are also from the kit, as is the the blue stripe I added to the top of the matting.

The top of this chain is attached to paper with a star and a poem. I think I will tuck the page behind the picture to keep when we've counted all the way down.  It says:

Star light, Star bright

Take a ring off every night.

 You'll find that Christmas isn't far,

it comes the day you reach the star.

I think I definitely want to keep that so I'm going to turn that top of the photo mat into a pocket and tuck it in there before I put the album away after Christmas.

December Daily Album

I have wanted to make an Ali Edwards style December Daily album for a couple of years now.  I committed to it this year, but with three kids 5 and under and a husband who just had spinal surgery, I knew I'd have to have it done ahead of time to actually do it.  As time was getting away from me, the answer hit me...Simply Scrappin' kits!!!!!  I mean, hello!  Why didn't I think of it earlier?!

  

I sketched out a few ideas and used those repeatedly throughout the album.  With the kit I was able to get this album put together in 1 1/2 hours!  I love it!  Since all the supplies come together with coordinating embellishments and everything it's a snap to get it done, have it look great, and not waste time trying to figure out what's going to go where or what to use when.

And this year's holiday Simply Scrappin' kit is perfect for a December Daily album because it comes with self-adhesive coordinating die cuts with numbers for the days of the month!  Score!

So here's are some of the pages I've come up with.  I made the main pages and photo matting where I wanted it.  I also put in the numbers.  I only did basic embellishments because I want to go back and add some in once I've gotten the pictures in.  I put sticky notes on the pages to help me remember what my plan is for that page.

 
I am just sharing a few photos here.  I will show each one as I add in photos over the month (and probably into January).  I'm hoping to print pics every week and stick them in.

  

 

Now I just have to remember to take one picture every day from now til Christmas! :)

 I used a few scraps on coordinating ribbon for the binding.  I just punched with my cropodile and put in a few jump rings.  I think I used one punch, two envelopes, and half a sheet of window sheeting too.  That's about all I used that didn't come with the Smply Scrappin' kit.
