Been Putting My New Office Together and A New Re-Signing Kit!

Hey Stampers!

I've been trying to keep up with stamping but it's hard when I'm moving my stamp room!  Since my first daughter (second born) came 2 1/2 years ago my stamping stuff has been in our garage.  I can't believe I've been working out of there.  It's hot.  You sweat stepping inside.  Or it's cold.  So cold the lights make a wierd noise.  There's not really room to set things up right, so I've had to dig around in boxes and move things to get to other things every time I stamp, etc...Proof that you too can be a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, even if you don't have a functional space. :) 

Well that's changing now.  My mother in law has blessed me with an extra room at her house to use as my office!  I've been taking a few things over, trying to sort through what's retiring while doing so.  It's been slow going because I've had the two youngest kids on my own the last few days.  But I wanted to show you what I'm really excited about.  I got an Expedit at Ikea and I'm lovin' the amount of storage space it provides me in a very organized way!

Forgive the grainy picture.  It was taken with my iPhone as my normal camera was in Arkansas when I took this.  I cannot tell you how excited I am about this thing!  I can't wait to get everything into this room and start stamping there!  And of course, I'll post a photo tour when I'm done.

My Parent's 40th Anniversary Gift

So my parents celebrated the big 4-0 this past weekend.  I was honestly at a loss as to what I should do.  I live too far away to throw a party.  It's the ruby year and my mom doesn't wear jewelry.  I would normally go the scrapbook route but I have no pictures of their early life together.  I'm not sure they have many pictures.  I've only ever seen one of their wedding.  So I went with a time capsule type thing from the year 1970.  And I used the retiring ruby red as my color inspiration.

 
Sorry I don't remember what brand this purse thingy is.  I won it in a Paper Crafts sweepstakes several years ago. 

I inked it all over directly with the ruby red ink pad.  I then used an image from the retiring Embrace Life stamp set to stamp in early espresso (love it!).  I used some retiring pretties and various ends of fibers to add a little somin' somin' to the outside.

So what's inside?

What's all that you ask?  There's a CD my husband made them with top billboard hits from 1970.  There's an embellished photo mat so they can add a wedding pic to it and put it in the time capsule.  There are some cultural things in a little book about what life was like (style, who the stars are, what a house costs, etc..), and there's a top headlines from the year type thing.  That's what's rolled up with the Extra! Extra! tag on it.

 

Here's a better look at it.  The new DSP in the catalog that comes out in 16 DAYS is awesome.  This one is called newsprint and it was perfect for this!  It also has a musical score sheet and a lined paper sheet.  Nice set.

Razzleberry Lemonade Pixie Stix

This is another project I demonstrated at Meridth's party the other night.  I love this one!  It's so...summery!  It's easy with a 2" strip of 12"x12" double sided DSP.  The razzleberry lemonade is not only on the retiring list (so get it now), but it's discounted 25% off!!!  Get it now!  Before it's gone!

My Tips:

-No need for major measuring!  Just lay the pixie stix near the top of the strip, then fold where the bottoms are to create your pocket.  Then fold the little top part back to show some of the other design.

-Use sticky strip along the edges so that your project won't pull apart where the pixie stix might put extra pressure on the edges.

Elements of Style Candle Gift

I had a workshop with my friend Meridth last night and had fun stamping with some of her friends that were new to me.   This is one of the projects I demonstrated:

I love that these come together so fast!  With the Big Shot it's even easier!  You get that nice decorative edge on top without having to trace or pretend you can cut right on the line (I've always been challenged in that area:)). 

My Tips:

-Fold the top of the cello bag over and staple it closed before you attach the topper.  This way you don't have to worry about all the layers slipping around while you try to hold it all still and get it in place.

-Use sticky strip to attach the topper to the cello bag.  You need the extra strong adhesive here because of the weight on the tea lights inside and because you are adhering two different mediums together (plastic and cardstock).

-Can't get the hat pin placed just where you want it?  Use mini glue dots or even stampin' dimensionals to hold pieces in place where you want them.  Place your glue dots strategically behind the flowers where they won't be seen.  Also, make sure you attach them to the topper, not the ribbon, as the weight will make the ribbon sag.

Hey stampers!

While you're here, I'll practice posting pics too. Here's some eye candy from a workshop I did last month.

Embrace Life Re-Run

Remember the gable green card I made at a stamp camp in this post?  Well I was looking at it, stuck and needing to make some thank you cards, and thought it would look really classy in black and white.  I am realizing I have a habit of going to black and white when I'm stuck. :) 

I made a set of these to use as thank you cards for customers this month.  I used basic black and whisper white and embossed the flower image from the Embrace Life stamp set in white.  I used white satin ribbon to tie the knot and wrap it around.  I think this is one of my new favorite looks with ribbon.  This is a 5 1/4" square card.

The Embrace Life stamp set is one that retiring this year.  If you want it, you have until June 30th to get it from my online store.

I have some quirks.  One of them is that I like to see a bunch of the same cards all together.  Wierd, I know.  But it's one of those little things that makes me happy. :)
