Real quick before I get started, I've added a fan page on facebook! Go here to become a fan and get more little updates.
I've been seeing these around for years, and can you believe this is the first time I made one? We made them at my Spring Stamp Camp this past Saturday.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE all this stuff in the new Occasions Mini Catalog! The paper is all so fabulously cute and has glitter on one side of it. And this paper and stamp set are so cute. Even though they're red and pink, they're not Valentine only because they don't have hearts. I always look for products like these that can maximize what I use them for, thereby maximizing the effectiveness of my money. :)
The flower punch is the new design and I am lovin' it! I hope they make all our punches in this design in the future. They lock closed with a flatter design that will solve any and all punch storage issues.
The clear mount cling stamps are the PERFECT way to keep the quality of rubber stamps and foam with a clear (pun intended) ability to easily see where you're placing your image.
The satin ribbon is to die for! It's so silky smooth, yet thicker than most brands so it's still very high quality and easy to tie and use. It doesn't have that cheap look to it that thinner satiny ribbons can sometimes have. You know what I'm talkin' about? That look where you can almost see through them? And that feel like it they're almost plastic or paper, just shiny like satin? Well that's NOT this ribbon! It's my new favorite.
So here's how to make the can: (I bet you thought I was going to jabber on forever about the products, huh?!)
-Find a pop top can. This one is one of those single serve fruit cocktail cans from the grocery store. When you're looking at them you want to make sure you get one with the regular bottom on it, not the rounded edge bottom.
-Use safety can opener (one that opens things from the side, like Pampered Chef has) and take off the BOTTOM of the can. (That's why you need one with a regular bottom. You can't take off a rounded bottom with a can opener).
-Dump out the contents (keep in another container if desired)
-Clean out the inside of the can and let dry
-Fill the can with treats of your choice. I used pink and red and white m&m's in this one to match the decoration.
-Use Crystal Effects adhesive to put the bottom back on the can. (This mean's you're leaving the can upside down to fill and replace the bottom.) I like to leave it for about 30 minutes to get the adhesive drying, but then turn it over to dry overnight so the weight of the contents and top will kind of help it push down onto the adhesive. Make sure you wipe off any excess crystal effects when you first replace the bottom.
-Once they're dry you're ready to layer with cardstock, DSP, stamped images, and embellishments. When you give them away the recipient can just pop open the can and enjoy!
These would make great shower favors, little gfities, etc... You could use a larger can to hid a bigger gift if you desire.
Here's what I used on this one: (Mostly from the Occasions Mini pages 12-13)
-real red and pretty in pink cardstock
-sending love specialty designer series paper
-Extra large fancy flower punch
-With All My Heart stamp set (I used cling mount)
-pretty in pink 5/8" satin ribbon (page 27 of mini catalog)
-stampin' dimensionals
-crsystal effects
